Oakley tweets for UNICEF on the tee

Using Twitter in an original way, Oakley is teaming up with one of his sponsored pro golfers, Rory McIlroy, to launch a social media event that will help support UNICEF with donations during the 2012 U.S. Open. For every fan who will tweet with the hashtag #RoryReturns during the tournament, Oakley will contribute $1 to UNICEF until the company’s total contribution reaches $20,000. Whenever the young golf phenomenon birdies a hole, Oakley will double the donation by making another $1 contribution to UNICEF for each fan who tweets with the hashtag #RoryBirdies during the game. These donations will continue until an additional $5,000 is contributed by Oakley, and the grand total of donations would then reach $25,000. McIlroy has been an ambassador of UNICEF since he first visited Haiti after the 2011 Masters, and saw how the country had been devastated by the January 2010 earthquake.

Golf champion Rory McIlroy shares Oakley's and UNICEF's visions for a better world.
