Partnership agreement between Eurosima and the Chambre de Métiers & de l'Artisanat Nouvelle-Aquitaine Landes
The 4ᵉ edition of the Forum des Métiers de la Glisse was an opportunity for Jean Louis Rodrigues, President of EUROSIMA, and Patrice Lartigue, President of the Chambre de Métiers & de l'Artisanat Nouvelle-Aquitaine Landes Artisanat40, to sign a collaboration agreement to identify the training and skills enhancement needs of craftsmen in our Action Sports sector (shapers, glasseurs, repairers, seamstresses...,).
What is the boardsports industry?
These are production, repair and service professions, enabling the execution of board sports on land (skateboarding, BMX, Rollerblading, scooters, etc.), water (surfing, kayaking, kitesurfing, paddleboarding, wakeboarding), air (paragliding) and snow (skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, etc.). You'll find not only the designers of sporting goods (boards, sails, etc.), but also the entire ecosystem around them, such as wetsuits and protective equipment. Given the geographical location of the Landes region, we're sure you'll find craftsmen dedicated to water sports, followed by land sports.
According to a study by the regional tourism committee in 2013:
- 1 million surfing days in Aquitaine, 40% of which take place in the Landes region
- A rather young sport, practised with great assiduity
- The number of surfers doubled between 2007 and 2015
- 80% of surfing sales in Europe are generated in Aquitaine, representing sales of over 900,000 euros. (2017 study) ¡ Businesses: 1.8 billion euros in sales and 4,000 direct jobs
- 48 surf artisans in the Landes and nearly a hundred in the industry
- According to ECO-SAFE SURFING (quality charter): around 80 surf schools during the summer season in the Capbreton-Hossegor-Seignosse triptych.
- 18 recognized surf clubs, including two not on the coast (Leon and St-Perdon)
