#EuroSIMA Family: SIC Surf Challenge in Hossegor
A GOLDEN DAY IN HOSSEGOR!
Hossegor, May 10, 2025 - For the second edition of the SIC Surf Challenge, the host Hossegor Surf Club pulled out all the stops to ensure a memorable day of surfing and sharing for all participants. The result? A successful surfing event that everyone hopes to see again in 2026. The smiles all day long were the hallmark of a successful day in every respect.

A sporting and human success
With 36 participants and a waiting list - proof of the popularity of this competition - the organizers prioritized quality over quantity. " Our aim was to ensure that participants spent as much time as possible in the water," stresses Renaud Lacoste, President of Tahe Outdoors France. Tahe Outdoors France.
The Hossegor Surf Club and its experienced competition teams ensured that the event ran smoothly. Augustin from HSC, master of ceremonies, explains:
"I checked all the spots in the morning. The decision was made to launch the competition in front of the Hossegor Surf Club. As the tide went out, the water only got better, with some great waves to surf. A mid-afternoon thunderstorm forced us to accelerate the final stages, but we managed to close the competition in clean 1m offshore waves. A superb day on the water."

Ideal conditions and outstanding performance.
The competition took place in perfect conditions: 1-meter waves offshore, set on the sandbar in front of the HSC. The right and left peaks allowed everyone to express themselves on the boards manufactured in Vannes, the Longboard 9.0 for the over 16s and the Drifter 7.4 for the under 16s.
Winners of the day :
In the men's +16 category, Samuel REDON, a 21-year-old shortboarder and regular on the QS circuit, delighted the audience by brilliantly adapting his style to longboarding. His final wave, rated at 10 points, had the crowd on the beach screaming: a well-placed take-off, a nose ride in the hollow section, topped off by a rotation executed with style and fluidity, giving him a final score of 20 points.
In the boys' -16 category, Robinson PETRY from Quiberon won over the jury with his hang-five sequences at full speed on the Drifter 7.4, demonstrating technical maturity in the pure spirit of classic longboarding.
On the women's side, Camille LIETS, a well-known shortboarder and tuberide rider and instructor at HSC, won the +16 age group by transposing her excellent wave reading onto a longboard. With a smile on her face, she unrolled with fluidity, linking critical sections and perfectly controlled nose rides. In the -16 age group, Camille TRAINAUD from Hossegor Surf Club dominated her category throughout the competition.
The day's best tricks put on a quality show, with magnificent hang-five and hang-ten held in critical sections, end-of-wave caps and fluid maneuvers. All the competitors were able to combine performance and style in a friendly and respectful atmosphere, with the competition taking place in an excellent spirit of sportsmanship and sharing.

The surfing spirit
Renaud LACOSTE, President of Tahe Outdoors France: " Arriving in the Landes, where we've had less of a presence for a number of years, is a milestone. This first day of competition in the SIC Surf Challenge is fabulous and magnificent! The location is fantastic and the conditions just perfect. [...] The SIC Surf Challenge is all about fun: getting in the water, having fun, smiling and sharing. A real encounter between all levels of practice.
Joan DURU, SIC Maui rider and sponsor of this year's event: "Helping young people, in this place where I grew up at the age of 8, is what really makes me tick! [...] The conditions are perfect for longboarding, everyone's mixed together, and there's a really great atmosphere."
The rain in the middle of the day did little to dampen the enthusiasm of the participants and their families. The prize-giving ceremony took place in the friendly atmosphere of the Jo&Joe Hossegor, thanks to the warm welcome of Antoine MARQUE, manager of the premises, in the presence of Christopher RIOLS (president of the HSC), Xavier DUVIGNEAU (French Surfing Federation), Joan DURU (Rider SIC Maui) and Renaud LACOSTE (president of Tahe Outdoors France).
The day ended in style and sunshine, with the Fréquences collective amplifying the rhythm and extending the day's surfing festivities well into the night.

Next stop: La Torche on July 5 and 6!
The SIC Surf Challenge continues on its way to La Torche for its second leg on July 5 and 6, before looking ahead to 2026. This Breton round promises to be exceptional, with ESB La Torche as host club and prestigious sponsor Alice Lemoigne, SIC Maui rider, world team champion and world longboard vice-champion 2025. A grandiose final is in prospect to close this 2025 edition!
