Tiago PIRES

Tiago Pires is a former Portuguese pro surfer, who was born in Alcantara (Lisbon) in 1980. He discovered surfing at 9 years old and shortly after won several national championships. In 1999, he won the Junior European Championship and joined the WQS, where he won 5 events.

But 2008 would be the year Tiago made his mark by becoming the very first Portuguese surfer to qualify for the WSL World Tour, enabling him to join the elite of world surfing. He competed on the tour for 7 consecutive years, reaching the position of21st in the rankings.

In 2013 however, a serious knee injury stopped his rising career and in 2016 he decided to quit competitive surfing for good. Although already the owner of a Surf School, Tiago also created ReAct Sports Management to help athletes manage their career and organize surf-related events. In 2019, he partnered up with "The Good Swell", the well-known agency that organizes "Surf Out Portugal". They work hand in hand together on various projects, including the 2020/2021 edition of "Surf Out Portugal".
