Several major regulatory projects are underway or planned for theEPR(Extended Producer Responsibility)sectors, with an expected impact on our sectors:

 

  • DDADUE Bill(Bill on Various Provisions for Adaptation to European Union Law) Europe: integration of European directives and regulations (waste, packaging, waste transfers, eco-design).
  • National reform of REPs: Order expected in the fall, following the inspection report on efficiency and governance (January 2024).
  • New EIC (Industrial and Commercial Packaging)EPR: For professional packaging, effective January1, 2026
  • Environmental labeling: Voluntary application starting October 1. Find out about the labeling and methodology for calculating the environmental cost of textile clothing products.
  • Consultation Revision of the REP TLC specifications with a future consultation to come.
  • European consultations :
    • Environmental omnibus(EPR and governance section).
    • Launch ofthe Circular Economy Act: WEEE collection and recycling, extension and simplification of EPR at European level.

 

Key positions of EUROSIMA: 

  • Textile and footwear crisis :
    • Structural overhaul of the system to ensure sustainable and equitable support among stakeholders. Member survey available here.
    • Exceptional aid possible, but without increasing eco-contributions (use the reserves of eco-organizations).
    • In favor of opening up to more players to manage collection and sorting
    • In favor of transparency in flow management (collection and financial)
  • Our requests for REPs:
    • Consistency between sectors and harmonization between ASL and TLC.
    • Administrative simplification
  • REP Europe reform (DDADUE project)same as USC NA (below)
  • Governance :
    • Maintaining the representativeness of producers and professional organizations on the boards of eco-organizations.
    • Opening of the debate on competition versus a single eco-organization per sector.
  • Repair and reuse fund :
    • Support for maintaining the reuse and repair fund for high value-added items (shoes, technical clothing, wetsuits)
