Kai Waterman Lenny is purely a product of his ocean environment. The son of avid surfing and windsurfing parents, he grew up on the beaches of Maui, watching the icons of the day surf huge waves, windsurf, tow foil, kitesurf and SUP. It did not take long, as a grom, for Kai follow in their footsteps. And now, he is pushing the limits of what can be done on the ocean…

Born in Biarritz, both a surfer and a child born in the traveling spirit of the 60s and 70s, Gibus de Soultrait co-founded Surf Session magazine with Pierre-Bernard Gascogne. Together, they shared editing of the magazine for three decades. Since 1994, Gibus has managed the French edition of Surfer’s Journal.

Born in Biarritz, both a surfer and a child born in the traveling spirit of the 60s and 70s, Gibus de Soultrait co-founded Surf Session magazine with Pierre-Bernard Gascogne. Together, they shared editing of the magazine for three decades. Since 1994, Gibus has managed the French edition of Surfer’s Journal. In 1990, having a strong connection to the environment, Gibus along with other surfers like Tom Curren, founded Surfrider Foundation Europe, which he still maintains close ties with today.

He is the author of several books on the culture and history of surfing, including  “Le monde du surf” (Editions Minerva 2005). In addition to his career as a journalist, he has also written essays and produced several films about a philosophy of movement based on surfing. He is the current and highly active President of the Guéthary Surf Club, where he can often be seen surfing nearby.

Surfer’s Journal: a bimonthly surf publication created in 1992 in California by Steve and Debee Pezman (1994 in France). Each edition includes a mix of history, travel, portraits, art and photography, thanks to which Surfer’s Journal has established itself as the reflection of surfing culture both past and present. More book than magazine, the publication includes only cover ads, which contribute to making it a high quality magazine that aims to nurture and contribute to surfing culture. The same goes for its many faithful readers, who have become guardians of this culture. Surfer’s Journal is a family editing business, based in San Clemente, California. Through his own editing company, Vent de Terre,  based in Guéthary, Gibus de Soultrait manages production and distribution of the French edition of Surfer’s Journal.

Driven by a passion for mountain sports and digital technology, in 2008 he launched Snowleader, an online store that sells products from street, outdoor and snow sports.

After graduating from the SKEMA Business School with a Master’s Degree in Project Management and Marketing, Thomas Rouault joined Nike in 2004. He started as a marketing project coordinator for Nike ACG and later moved to Nike 6.0. Driven by a passion for mountain sports and digital technology, in 2008 he launched Snowleader, an online store that sells products from street, outdoor and snow sports. Since its creation, Snowleader has grown exponentially with double digit figures, averaging growth rates between 20% and 40% per year, thanks to its ability to offer quality at highly competitive prices, great customer service but also communication and marketing that stands out.

Mathieu CREPEL

Mathieu Crépel is the most accomplished French freestyle snowboarder and is recognised as one of the most versatile riders in the world. Having surfed since his childhood, what started as a simple passion became an essential part of his lifestyle. That is why Mathieu has been travelling the world in search of the most amazing mountains and waves.

For Mathieu, the ocean and the mountains are inseparable. Ever since he was a child, he has travelled back and forth, following the seasons, chasing snow in the winter and waves in the summer. At ten years old, he joined the professional snowboarding world on to a trip to Greenland with some of the best snowboarders of the time. At first, he went towards the competitive scene, trying out the national and international tours and travelling the world to win medals. 4 world titles (2005, 2006, 2007 x2), 2 Olympic Games (Torino 2006 and Vancouver 2010) and a silver medal at the X-Games (2010) later, he had exceeded his objectives. While those years were filled with amazing experiences and incredible encounters, travelling from one resort to the next, going back to the same places and staying the same hotels again and again was starting to get old for him. He realised that travelling could involve so much more…

He is the most accomplished French freestyle snowboarder and is recognised as one of the most versatile riders in the world having surfed since his childhood. What started as a simple passion and was a way to recharge between snowboarding competitions eventually became an essential part of his lifestyle. Today he has taken on the challenge of combining is two passions, surfing and snowboarding, which makes him one of the most unique “watermen” out there.

“I also want to share my experience and learn from others. Surfing and snowboarding are vital for me. They give me a connection to nature and have taught me how fragile the environment can be. It drives me to go on adventures, leave the comfort of my home and constantly take on new challenges.”

That is why Mathieu has been travelling the world in search of the most amazing mountains and waves in an unprecedented challenge.

Claude De Piante is the creator of specific auto-hypnosis methods. He uses hypnosis as a method for coaching, therapy and shows. He will share a global perspective of hypnosis, which he considers an art or an outlook on life rather than simply a purely scientific practice.

A graduate from ESSEC with a DESS in statistics, Julien Vivier has dedicated his entire career to the field of sports marketing. He has worked at the research institute TNS Sofres, but also with Havas Sports & Entertainment and more recently at Nielsen Sports, the worldwide leading research firm. He has always aimed to implement marketing insight tools to better understand dynamics of markets, customers and fans.

A huge sports fan (in front of his TV but mostly on skis in the mountains, wearing trainers on a court, cycling or wearing a wetsuit for open water swimming), Julien, along with his teams, has lead the research for the “Action Sports Fans, who are they?” study, which covers the 5 leading European sports markets. His presentation will present the first results.
