Mountain Guide

Nature

A mountain guide shares his/her love of nature and the mountains to groups of people. He/she is therefore responsible for their safety and must supervise their level of physical ability and resistance. During hikes, mountain guides must communication information about the mountain and the environment as well as ensure he/she communicates the dangers of mountain environments. A guide is athletic and must be pluri disciplinarian, having skills in mountaineering, skiing and mountain climbing.

Organising trail and hike circuits based on level of difficulty and physical ability of patrons
Guaranteeing maximum safety
Studying weather conditions before any excursion
Establish a relation of trust with patrons

Accès

The National school of Skiing and Mountaineering is the only option which offers Mountain Guide Certification. Located in Chamonix, acceptance to the school is based on an entry exam, with a limited number of available seats. The certification is given after successfully completing the 2 year training, which alternates between academic and practical training and internships (summer and winter).
