The profession of « shaper » consists in making and repairing surf boards. It is a profession, which requires the ability to combine technology, the perfect touch of a master, and the ability to see the smallest variation in the shape of a board at first glance. It is a passion. The artist must also be a surfer, since he/she is the “test pilot” for his/her creations. It is from his/her impressions that future boards will be born. By feeling the power of the waves, the shaper can produce new creations.

There is no specific training of specialized school in shaping. The best option is to work as an assistant or intern along side a shaper to learn the basic skills of this profession.
