The purchasing manager is responsible for the acquisition of raw materials, middle products, finished products or services, necessary for company production. The position operates within the purchasing departments of medium sized to large companies in small businesses responsibilities of this position are included in technical executive and production manager positions. Day to day activities include close cooperation with production, quality, product, R&D, and commercial departments. The position requires frequently visiting suppliers and sub contractors at trade fairs and conferences, sometimes abroad.

Mission

Selection and purchase of raw materials, intermediate and finished products and services.
Market prospecting, evaluation of supplier ability to respond to cost, deadline, quantity and quality requirements.
Price negotiating based on commercial objectives.

Accès

Business schools offer appropriate training and preparation for this type of profile. Nevertheless, extensive experience in board sports is required for this position. Additional training and background in logistics and production are also helpful to reach this position.
