Ecologic: What is it?
Ecologic is a non-profit eco-organization approved by the French government to provide a collection and processing service for Sporting and Leisure Goods (ASL) and Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) in France. Since 2006, Ecologic has been contributing to the development of a circular economy based on waste prevention and recycling activities, with all the players involved (producers, retailers, local authorities, players in the Social and Solidarity Economy, treatment operators, associations, etc.).

End-of-season collection: providing a network of temporary collection points for Sport & Leisure Goods (ASL) for all players in a given area.

The regulatory context
Current European and French regulations make equipment producers responsible for the waste generated by certain products. The ASL and EEE sectors are based on the principle of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), which means that the sale price of products put on the market includes responsibility for the product's life cycle.
The eco-contribution corresponds to the share that the producer pays to the eco-organizations for the management of Sporting and Leisure Goods and Electrical and Electronic Equipment at end-of-life. It has been compulsory since 2006 for EEE and since 2022 for ASL.
Operational conditions for opening a collection point in your community :
- Location: Your waste collection center, technical services, a water sports center, etc. (ideally close to the resort).
- The location must be accessible and secure (not on the public highway)
- Containers: These are provided free of charge by Ecologic. Wheeled bin or plastic crate or skip (depending on space available on site and estimates of deposits).
- Period: mid-September to mid-November - possibility of choosing the start date - the point must be open for at least 1 month
- Products collected: All Sporting and Leisure Goods
- Collection: Ecologic's operator intervenes on request (extranet) when containers are full (full/empty rotation).
- Collection and processing handled by Ecologic
- Access: the collection point must accept, free of charge, deposits of ASLs from local players (enthusiasts, clubs/leagues/committees, local authorities, professionals, equipment rental/sales companies and all other ASL holders).
Communication
Your organization agrees to communicate about the scheme to local players. You are free to choose the communication channels you deem appropriate. You can rely on your local authority to help you increase visibility.
