Product manager / Chief of product

Nature

The Chief of Product is responsible for developing a line of products, from conception to marketing. Starting from the company objectives and a market analysis, he/she suggests a definition of a product, conceives commercial plan actions and promotional campaigns. He/she follows the commercial evolution of the range, assists the sales team and coordinates activities relative to the creation and implementation of a marketing sales plan. Depending on the size of the company, the nature of work may vary: from the basic development of a collection for a large company, to the oversight of purchases and production in a small to mid size company.

Mission

Supervising and running production of product lines and ensuring application of cost, deadline and quality requirements and objectives are met
Constant communication with suppliers, in order to maximise performance
Constant work relations with commercial department

Skills

As this is an interface type position, knowledge in multiple fields, which interconnect, is necessary:
Product sensitivity (knowledge)
Fluent English mandatory
Knowledge of markets
Strong management, legal, finance skills
Attention to detail, organisation skills
Team management skills
Ability to anticipate

Access

Background and training is production and product quality seems most appropriate. Nevertheless, business schools and specialized Masters programs offer solid basics in management and finance.
